The American portrait photographer Richard Corman was born in New York. At the start of the 1980s he worked as an apprentice with Richard Avedon. This book came about after Madonna auditioned for the role of the Virgin Mary in Martin Scorsese’s film The Last Temptation of Christ. The casting director was Corman’s mother Cis Corman who was so taken with Madonna’s charisma that she told her son he had to photograph her.
