Art in Modern Ballet by George Amberg. Published by Routledge in London in 1946.

The main feature of the book is the collection of 200 plates, 8 in colour, the rest in photogravure. They make up a selection of paintings and drawings used as the basis for the designs for many modern ballets. Picasso, Braque, Dali, Rouault, Bakst, Chagall, Matisse, Burra, Ayrton, Piper and others.

George Amberg was Curator of theatre Arts at MOMA in New York in the mid 1940s.

Hardback gilt titling on spine. Large quarto 115pp plus 202 illustrations.

Book is very good some staining and fading to boards.

Dustjacket is in poor condition front section detached from back please see pictures. Various tears now enclosed in protective Brodart wrapper.
