This is the 1824 edition the second to be published by John Major. Ownership inscription with date by George Cruikshank on the title page. This makes it unique. Bound in green with George Cruikshank's copy engraved on base of spine. Leather on spine has marks caused by knocks. Later binding.
George Cruikshank (1792-1878) was an illustrator and caricaturist often compared to Hogarth by his contemporaries and he produced more than 10000 illustrations during his lifetime.
He's most probably known for his work on the novels of Charles Dickens.
