1st UK edition Hardback published by Secker and Warburg London 1965.

Bright blue cloth with sliver lettering. 8vo 291pp. Some fading to boards , Full dust jacket Very good ++.

The dust jacket designed by Chopping depicts a large fly looking into a human eye.

Chopping’s first novel was published with the help of the writer Angus Wilson. the book’s editor Giles Gordon said the book was “disgusting…the book sufficiently sordid to appeal to voyeurs…if Chopping were to adorn it with one of his famous dust jackets it could be a success de scandale “.
